Task Two: this task was picked from the Cambridge IELTS Practice Test Book 4, Task 4.

The graph indicates the percentages of unemployment rates of the U. S. and Japan respectively from March 1993 to March 1999.

As the data shown in the graph, it can easily be seen that the unemployment rate of the U.S. gradually decreased, whereas that of Japan increased over the reported period. And both of them had fluctuations.

Firstly, the percentage of unemployment rate of the U.S. dropped from 7% in March 1993 to a bottom at 4.75% in March 1998 with small fluctuations, which occurred several times. From then on, it slightly rose to approximately 5.25%, and decreased to 4.75%, and bounced back to 5% in March 1999.

Secondly, the percentage of unemployment rate of Japan went an opposite way. It jumped from 2.5% to 3%, and then climbed up gradually to reach a top at 5.75% after March 1998. Later it went down and leveled off at a little less than 5% in March 1999.

To sum up, the displayed data in the graph shows that the unemployment rates of the U.S. and Japan went very opposite ways.
